About the Opportunity

SGF Global is seeking a Network Engineer I to support a leading telecommunications and public safety technology organization. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and supporting mission-critical video and communication systems used for real-time situational awareness.

You will work within a high-performance, customer-focused engineering team delivering complex network and video solutions across the Chicago area.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement video network solutions, including infrastructure, VMS, and camera systems
• Oversee technical delivery of projects from initiation through system acceptance
• Perform system staging, testing, and deployment
• Develop engineering documentation (designs, diagrams, bill of materials)
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, and installation teams
• Conduct site walks to assess client requirements and define scope
• Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot network and video equipment
• Provide technical support to internal teams and third-party vendors
• Deliver customer training and final system documentation
• Act as a liaison with contractors and stakeholders during implementation

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, or related field
• 3 years of experience in:
• • Network Engineering
  • System Engineering
  • Wireless Communications or Video System Integration
• Strong knowledge of:
• • IP networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3, MPLS)
  • Network design and troubleshooting
• Experience with video systems, cameras, or VMS platforms
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc.)
• Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network , Juniper JNCIA, or similar
• Experience with wireless point-to-point / point-to-multipoint systems (e.g., Cambium Networks)
• Knowledge of RF system design and microwave propagation
• Experience working directly with customers in technical environments

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to travel frequently within the Chicago area
• Must have a valid driver’s license and use personal vehicle
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• Background check required
