What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis Counselor - Victim Advocate position at Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Eastern CT?
We are searching for a candidate who has a demonstrated interest in providing support to victims of sexual violence. This candidate's main responsibility will be providing advocacy, support and counseling to adults whose children have been victims of sexual violence, and working jointly with our children's counselors to ensure the best outcomes for the children and families we serve. .
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
- Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Must acquire and maintain Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor/Advocate Certification
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of counseling experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Available to work nights and weekends
Requirements:
- Familiarity with the CT Judicial System
- Familiarity with the mission and operations of DCF
- Possess knowledge of evidence based trauma interventions
- Able to take initiative, multi-task, work well under pressure, adapt to change, and complete required assignments in a timely fashion
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; team player,
- Willingness to value the importance of working as part of a Team
- Provide coverage for our 24-hour hotline in rotation
