Key Responsibilities of the MRI Technologist
- Perform MRI examinations according to physician orders and established protocols
- Prepare and position patients appropriately for MRI procedures
- Operate MRI equipment safely and effectively to produce high-quality diagnostic images
- Review patient histories and screening information prior to examinations
- Complete MRI safety screening and identify potential contraindications before procedures
- Explain MRI procedures clearly to patients and provide reassurance throughout examinations
- Administer contrast media as required and monitor patients for potential reactions
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging documentation, and examination details
- Follow MRI safety, radiation safety, infection control, and patient care standards
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team
Requirements of the MRI Technologist Role
- Current BLS certification
- Current ARRT certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent MRI Technologist experience
- Strong knowledge of MRI procedures, protocols, anatomy, and MRI safety
- Excellent technical, communication, and patient care skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
