Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all tools are ready for procedures in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
- Assist dentists chairside during various treatments including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing support with dental instruments and materials.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging, ensuring proper technique while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies and infection control standards.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental health.
- Handle patient management software to schedule appointments, update medical records, and coordinate patient flow efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by processing dental instruments, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines including pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and implant procedures like 3D scanning.
- Experience with dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, dental sterilization devices, and digital imaging tools.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient care coordination as a dental receptionist or front desk support when needed.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental practice for accurate documentation and communication.
- Understanding of clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
