Shift: 5x8s - 40hrs - Days - 7am - 3:30pm/8am - 4:30pm
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Radiation Therapy Technologist to join our oncology care team in Norfolk, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by radiation oncologists. You will work closely with physicians, physicists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective, and precise delivery of radiation therapy.
Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment.
- Position patients for treatment with accuracy based on simulation and physician directives.
- Perform daily machine quality assurance (QA) checks and monitor equipment performance.
- Monitor patients for unusual reactions and report concerns to the radiation oncologist.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient treatment records.
- Follow safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to review treatment plans and patient progress.
- Assist with simulation procedures including imaging (CT simulation).
- Educate patients and families about treatment procedures and aftercare.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in radiation therapy techniques and technology.
Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or related field.
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (T).
- Valid Virginia Radiologic Technologist license or eligibility to obtain.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred (new graduates will be considered).
- Strong technical skills with radiation therapy equipment (e.g., linear accelerators, simulation equipment).
- Excellent communication, patient care, and critical thinking skills.
