Seva Hospice is a locally owned and operated company of experienced hospice providers with a desire to serve the communities we live and work in. We are looking for a Volunteer/Bereavement Coordinator to join our dynamic team serving our Madera and Visalia offices. This position is full time Monday – Friday occasional weekends or after hours required.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or theology preferred
- Experience with families/caregivers and patients through the death and dying process
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a health care setting, hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred
- Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services
- Understand hospice philosophy
- Understanding of grief response and experience with counseling individuals and/or in groups regarding loss.
- Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs
- Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees
- Have an aptitude for customer service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Reliable transportation and auto insurance
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation program sufficient to meet the volunteer needs of the patients and families.
- Recruits, educates, and selects volunteers from at least three (3) recruitment sessions a year.
- Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team.
- Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Maintains monthly statistics. Records services of volunteers, including the type of service performed and the time worked.
- Coordinates the assessment and delivery of grief counseling needs and services (one-to-one, groups, and ongoing follow-up) to ensure timely and appropriate services are provided to family/caregivers.
- Provides bereavement support to hospice personnel coping with work related grief through one-to-one counseling, supervision of interns providing one-to-one counseling, and referral to community resources.
- Participates in hospice activities such as inservice education, hospice personnel meetings, and relevant committees.
- Maintains current personnel files.
- Reevaluate volunteer program as necessary.
- Coordinate support/education meetings.
- Attends interdisciplinary group meetings.
- Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
- Participates as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
- Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams, activities and reviewing and revising written volunteer policies and procedures.
Salary : $25 - $35
