Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as a Steel Wire Slitter. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating slitting machines to process steel wire, ensuring quality control, and preparing finished products for shipment. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation:
- Set up, operate, and monitor slitting machines to process steel wire according to production specifications.
- Adjust machine settings for optimal performance and troubleshoot any issues.
- Quality Assurance:
- Inspect steel wire for conformity to customer specifications, identifying and resolving defects.
- Record and report any quality issues to the supervisor.
- Material Handling:
- Load steel wire coils onto slitting machines and ensure proper alignment.
- Safely handle and package finished products for shipment, maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of slitting machines to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Notify the maintenance team of any major repairs needed.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience operating slitting or similar machinery in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and troubleshooting is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Basic math skills and ability to read and interpret work orders.
- Good communication skills and teamwork ability.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods in a production environment.
