Job Overview
Ozark Steel is seeking skilled and motivated Structural Steel Fitter/Welders to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and welding structural steel components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your experience will contribute to the successful completion of large-scale projects throughout the Midwest.
Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints to accurately assemble steel structures.
- Measure, cut, fit, and weld steel materials using measuring instruments and shop math to ensure precise fabrication.
- Perform welding operations including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes.
- Use power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment to shape and assemble components.
- Maintain safety protocols and site-specific safety procedures during all phases of work.
- Safely rig and handle materials using jib cranes and overhead cranes.
- Work with team members in the shop to meet project deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in fabrication shops with a focus on structural steel fitting and welding.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading.
- Skilled in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding; certification according to AWS standards is preferred.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as tape measures, squares, and other fabrication tools for precise fabrication.
- Ability to operate power tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, drills, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Experience with rigging operations for lifting and positioning heavy steel components using jib cranes and overhead cranes.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in steel fabrication or manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
- Pay rate dependent on experience level.
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
