Qualifications:
Required:
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in food preparation or a similar kitchen role
- A current Alaska food worker’s card or ability to obtain one upon hire
- Ability to:
- Pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
- Qualify for SFA’s commercial automobile insurance
Preferred:
- Basic understanding of nutrition and food safety practices
Skills required:
- Basic understanding of cooking techniques and safe food handling practices
- Ability to create menus, and follow recipes, and instructions consistently
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
- Punctuality and consist reliability in reporting to work
- Understanding of trauma informed care and awareness of cultural differences

Job responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve meals for clients according to established menus and guidelines
- Assist with kitchen procurement and restocking
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and food preparation areas
- Support proper food storage, labeling, and inventory rotation
- Follow all food safety, infection control, and organizational policies
- Communicate effectively with program staff regarding meal service needs or concerns
- Interact with clients in a respectful, trauma-informed manner while maintaining professional boundaries
