Position: Special Education Teacher – Life Skills 6-8
Location: Junior High School, Waterville, ME
Qualifications: Special Education (282) Certification and current CHRC Authorization through the State of Maine Department of Education.
Description: The 6-8 Functional Life Skills Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities, focusing on functional, academics, communication, and daily living skills in a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide individualized and small-group instruction focused on academics, communication, self-care, and social-emotional development
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and the IEP team
Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that meets the diverse needs of students
Supervise and collaborate with educational technicians to deliver consistent, effective instructional and behavioral support
Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction, track progress, and report on goals and objectives
