Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Pre-K Director, the Pre-K Teacher is responsible for facilitating student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills. This is accomplished through implementing district-approved curriculum, creating a flexible and nurturing learning environment, documenting student progress, and maintaining open communication with students, families, and administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver Pre-K curriculum aligned with school district goals and objectives
- Foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction
- Embrace and apply a whole child-centered philosophy in daily practice
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students
- Implement evidence-based programs and frameworks, including Pre-K for ME, Second Step, Eureka Math, Heggerty, or similar models
- Support students through Response to Intervention (RtI) plans as needed
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment alongside colleagues, specialists, and support staff
- Engage families and community members as meaningful partners in their child's education
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, activities, and outcomes
- Strong understanding of current early childhood teaching methods and educational pedagogy
- Ability to differentiate instruction based on individual student learning styles and developmental needs
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and student rights
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
- Proficiency in using technology, computer networks, and software applications as needed
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills within a child-centered environment
- Current Maine DOE Certification (081) required
- Current CHRC required
- Prior Pre-K teaching experience preferred
