Freeport Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and student-centered long-term substitute Instrumental Music Teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for leading a vibrant and engaging band program while fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment for all students.
Responsibilities Include
This position is aligned with a sabbatical leave. In accordance with contractual guidelines, the anticipated start date is August 25, 2026, through January 2027.
Requirements
Requirements:
Must hold valid CHRC Certification from the ME Dept. of Education.
Valid 614 Music Certification from the ME Dept. of Education is preferred.
Position remains open until suitable candidate is found.

Responsibilities Include
- Directing 6th Grade Band and 7/8 Band ensembles.
- Leading small ensemble groups.
- Providing like-instrument instruction in small group lesson settings.
- Collaborating with colleagues to share teaching responsibilities for 6th grade general music and beginning band.
- Encouraging student growth, confidence, and a love of music through engaging instruction and performance opportunities.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Commitment to collaboration and school community involvement.
- Passion for developing middle school musicians at all levels.
