Position Summary
RSU 57's Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program serves children ages 3–5 who are receiving special education services. The ECSE Coordinator and Case Manager provides leadership, collaboration, and coaching to support staff and ensure high-quality, inclusive programming for our youngest learners.
The Coordinator oversees the implementation of instruction aligned with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, maintains compliance with state and federal special education regulations, and serves as a central liaison between families, school teams, and outside agencies. The position also includes building-based support and coordination of educational technicians, with a focus on ensuring smooth transitions from Early Intervention into public PreK settings.

Compensation: Annual salary range of $49,000–$88,477

The position also includes building-based support and coordination of educational technicians, with a focus on ensuring smooth transitions from Early Intervention into public PreK settings.
Qualifications
- Maine Department of Education Certification 282 (Teacher of Students with Disabilities) or 035 (Early Childhood Special Education) required.
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs, with strong skills in progress monitoring and compliance.
- Experience working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of federal and state special education regulations.
- Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative and facilitate IEP meetings for students transitioning from Early Intervention to RSU 57.
- Complete special education documentation in accordance with legal timelines and district protocols.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and participate in evaluations as appropriate.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Transportation Department regarding students requiring special transportation.
- Coordinate services across schools and community agencies to support student success.
- Coordinate, schedule, and support educational technicians by establishing clear role expectations and accountability.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to special education and general education teachers regarding IEP implementation, accommodations, and modifications.
- Actively contribute to school-based problem-solving teams and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
- Receive and respond to special education referrals in collaboration with Special Education Administration.
- Uphold district values, academic standards, and a culture of professionalism.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families, staff, and administrators.
- Plan and participate in staff meetings and committee work as needed.
- Pursue ongoing professional learning to remain current with best practices in special education and early childhood development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Building Administrator or Director of Special Services.
- Confident and approachable leadership style with a collaborative mindset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and coordinate staff.
