CROSSING GUARD - Albert S. Hall School
The Albert S. Hall School is a 4th and 5th grade intermediate school that prioritizes the academic and social growth experienced by students in this age group. While parent involvement continues to be important, the curriculum intends to foster more independence in students by encouraging their organizational, reasoning, and problem solving skills and providing opportunities to be involved in the school community through clubs and activities.
The Crossing Guard will assist students and families crossing Pleasant Street on their way to and from school. Crossing guards provide safe crossings of the street and model appropriate street skills and behaviors for children.
Qualifications
This position is governed by the terms set forth in the Board of Education of the City of Waterville and the Waterville Education Association Teacher Contract.
EVALUATION
The Crossing Guard reports to and is evaluated by the Principal.

Qualifications
- Available 7:15-8:15 a.m. and 2:15-3 p.m. during school days
- Strong situational awareness including traffic patterns and laws.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and community partners
- Professional, cooperative, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others.
- Choosing good times to stop traffic to create safe gaps for crossing
- Standing in the street with a handheld STOP sign continuously displayed to show that pedestrians are in the crosswalk.
- Verbally direct children and families across the street.
- Recognizing and communicating potentially dangerous traffic situations and hazards in the environment.
- Fulfilling job requirements outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Other duties as reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
