Branch Manager – Restoration Operations

Stevensville, Michigan

Full-Time | 401(k) | Paid Time Off | $100 Weekly Performance Bonus | Leadership Position

ServiceMaster Fire & Water Restoration by 24/7 is hiring an experienced Branch Manager to lead our Stevensville, Michigan location.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the day-to-day operation of the branch, including water mitigation, fire and smoke restoration, contents, general restoration services, employees, equipment, job quality, customer service, and production.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of a branch.

You should be able to manage people, keep jobs moving, solve problems, communicate with customers and insurance professionals, and make sure the work is completed correctly and profitably.

This is not a position for someone who wants to sit in an office all day.

The right person will know what is happening on their jobs, what their crews are doing, what problems are developing, and what needs to happen next.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As Branch Manager, you will oversee the daily operation of our Stevensville location.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage day-to-day branch operations
  • Oversee water mitigation, fire restoration, contents, and cleaning projects
  • Assign crews and coordinate daily production schedules
  • Ensure jobs are properly staffed and progressing on schedule
  • Review active projects and identify problems before they become bigger problems
  • Maintain high standards for job quality and customer service
  • Make sure crews are following company procedures and industry standards
  • Review job documentation, photographs, moisture records, equipment records, and notes
  • Ensure jobs are documented well enough to support billing and insurance review
  • Communicate with homeowners, property managers, adjusters, agents, and other parties
  • Handle customer concerns and difficult situations professionally
  • Coordinate emergency response
  • Help manage after-hours and large-loss situations when necessary
  • Monitor company vehicles, restoration equipment, tools, and inventory
  • Maintain an organized warehouse and branch
  • Ensure equipment is available, maintained, cleaned, and accounted for
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding new employees
  • Train, develop, and hold employees accountable
  • Perform employee evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
  • Help develop Crew Chiefs and future leaders
  • Monitor employee productivity and job performance
  • Help control labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs
  • Review projects for missed work or billing opportunities
  • Coordinate with estimators, project managers, reconstruction staff, and company leadership
  • Assist with larger or complicated losses when needed
  • Maintain a safe and professional work environment
  • Help grow the branch and maintain strong relationships within the local community

We Need Someone Who Can Actually Run a Branch

This position requires more than knowing restoration.

You need to be able to manage people and priorities.

On any given day, you may have multiple water losses in progress, a fire job being cleaned, a contents pack-out underway, technicians needing direction, customers calling with questions, equipment moving between jobs, and a new emergency coming through the door.

We need someone who can organize all of that without losing control of the operation.

A strong Branch Manager should be able to answer:

  • Where are our crews?
  • What is happening on each job?
  • Are the jobs properly documented?
  • Are we drying correctly?
  • Are we meeting customer expectations?
  • Do we have enough equipment?
  • Are employees being productive?
  • What jobs are falling behind?
  • What problems need to be addressed today?
  • Are we performing work we can properly document and bill?
  • Is the branch operating efficiently and profitably?

We are not looking for someone who simply forwards problems to somebody else.

We are looking for someone who solves them.

Leadership Expectations

Your employees should know what is expected of them.

We expect the Branch Manager to:

  • Lead by example
  • Hold employees accountable
  • Recognize and develop good employees
  • Correct poor performance
  • Train inexperienced technicians
  • Maintain professional standards
  • Keep crews productive
  • Make good decisions under pressure
  • Communicate clearly
  • Handle conflict professionally
  • Work alongside the team when the situation requires it

You should be able to be firm without creating unnecessary drama.

A good manager gets results while still keeping good employees.

Performance Bonus

In addition to regular compensation, this position includes a $100 weekly performance bonus.

The bonus is tied to meeting established branch performance expectations, including areas such as:

  • Job documentation
  • Production and cycle times
  • Customer service
  • Crew productivity
  • Job quality
  • Equipment and vehicle accountability
  • Branch organization
  • Completion of assigned responsibilities

We believe strong performance should be recognized and rewarded.

Expectations will be clearly communicated so you know what is required to earn the bonus.

Restoration Knowledge

Strong candidates should understand professional restoration operations, including:

  • Water mitigation
  • Water categories and classes
  • Structural drying
  • Moisture mapping
  • Psychrometrics
  • Extraction
  • Air movers and dehumidifiers
  • Controlled demolition
  • Fire and smoke cleaning
  • Soot removal
  • Contents cleaning
  • Pack-outs and pack-backs
  • HEPA filtration
  • Containment
  • Odor control
  • Job-site safety
  • Proper documentation
  • Customer communication
  • Insurance restoration workflows

You do not need to personally perform every task every day, but you need enough experience to know whether the work is being performed correctly.

Experience

We are looking for someone with previous experience in the restoration industry.

Ideal candidates may currently be working as a:

Branch Manager | Operations Manager | Mitigation Manager | Restoration Manager | Senior Project Manager | Production Manager | Senior Crew Chief

Previous management or leadership experience is strongly preferred.

Experience with water mitigation and insurance restoration is important.

Experience with restoration documentation software, moisture documentation systems, estimating platforms, or similar industry technology is a plus.

Certifications

IICRC WRT certification is strongly preferred.

Additional certifications are a plus, including:

  • IICRC ASD
  • IICRC AMRT
  • IICRC FSRT
  • IICRC OCT
  • OSHA training
  • Lead-safe certification
  • Other restoration industry certifications

Strong real-world restoration and management experience will also be considered.

What This Position Is Really Like

Restoration is not predictable.

Pipes break at night.

Storms happen on weekends.

Commercial buildings flood.

Customers are stressed.

Employees call off.

Jobs change.

Equipment breaks.

Schedules get blown up.

The Branch Manager needs to stay calm, reorganize the plan, and keep the operation moving.

There will be days when you spend most of your time managing people and jobs.

There will also be days when you need to walk a loss, help evaluate damage, meet an adjuster, solve a difficult customer issue, check a drying job, or jump in and help the team.

This is a management position, but it is still restoration.

Requirements

  • Previous professional restoration experience
  • Previous leadership or management experience strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Driving record that meets company requirements
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple active projects
  • Ability to supervise and develop employees
  • Ability to make decisions without constant supervision
  • Ability to use smartphones, tablets, computers, and restoration software
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and insurance professionals
  • Ability to work full-time
  • Willingness to respond to occasional emergencies or after-hours situations
  • Ability to complete required employment and driving screenings consistent with applicable law

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • $100 weekly performance bonus
  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Paid industry training and certification opportunities
  • Leadership role with real responsibility
  • Opportunity to manage and grow an established restoration operation
  • Advancement opportunities within the company
