Core Responsibilities
Extraction Operations
- Perform cannabis extraction using approved methods (CO2, ethanol, hydrocarbon, solventless, or other authorized processes) in accordance with SOPs and manufacturer specifications.
- Monitor extraction equipment throughout each run; document process parameters and production metrics accurately.
- Weigh and prepare raw materials for extraction; maintain accurate input records.
- Execute approved post-processing techniques including winterization, decarboxylation, distillation, filtration, and purging as assigned.
- Conduct preliminary testing to assess potency, purity, color, and terpene profile; report results and flag any quality concerns to the Production Manager.
- Maintain detailed extraction logs and production records for every run.
Safety, Compliance & Hazardous Materials
- Adhere strictly to all applicable state and local cannabis regulations, OSHA standards, and company SOPs.
- Follow all Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements for handling, storage, and emergency response for all hazardous materials used in extraction.
- Wear required PPE at all times in the extraction area; PPE compliance is non-negotiable.
- Ensure all hazardous materials are properly stored in designated, labeled locations at all times.
- Report any spill, leak, gas alarm, equipment failure, or safety incident immediately; follow the company incident response protocol without deviation.
- Stay current on regulatory changes affecting extraction operations; proactively flag any procedural updates needed to the Production Manager.
Equipment Maintenance & Calibration
- Perform pre-run equipment inspections before every extraction run; document results and do not initiate a run if any safety concern is unresolved.
- Verify that all gas detection and environmental monitoring equipment is fully operational before beginning any extraction run. No exceptions.
- Clean and calibrate extraction and laboratory equipment per established schedules and SOPs.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance; troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate unresolved problems to the Production Manager immediately.
Recordkeeping & Inventory
- Maintain detailed, accurate production records for every extraction run including inputs, outputs, batch numbers, and process parameters.
- Record all inventory used and produced in the seed-to-sale tracking system in real time.
- Track stock levels and report potential shortages or discrepancies immediately.
- Accurately record work time on production orders per company policy.
- Controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to pressurized equipment, solvents, CO2, hydrocarbons, or other extraction chemicals; full PPE compliance required at all times.
- Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands; ability to climb ladders and operate industrial machinery.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
- Exposure to cannabis plant material, allergens, and associated odors.
- Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, face shield, flame-resistant clothing, and/or respirator as required by site policy.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Performance Expectations
Performance is reviewed by the Production Manager against extraction output, quality, and safety targets. Expectations include: production attainment, product quality metrics, equipment inspection completion, SDS and PPE compliance, recordkeeping accuracy, and safety incident record.
Qualifications
Required
- Must be 21 years of age or older and meet all state requirements for working in a licensed cannabis manufacturing operation.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in cannabis extraction or a closely related chemical/manufacturing field.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort operating and troubleshooting industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and cannabis regulatory requirements.
- Ability to respond correctly and calmly to emergency situations.
Preferred
- Prior experience with CO2, hydrocarbon, ethanol, or solventless extraction systems.
- Background in chemistry, chemical processing, or a related technical discipline.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Familiarity with seed-to-sale tracking systems.
Position Summary
Production Specialized — Extraction staff are trained to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specific extraction equipment and processes within New Gen Holdings manufacturing facilities. The role focuses on the safe and efficient extraction of cannabis products — including concentrates, oils, and derivatives — while meeting production output targets, quality standards, and all applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Due to the hazardous nature of extraction operations, this role carries a high standard of personal accountability for safety compliance, equipment inspection, and accurate recordkeeping.
