About the Role
Service Disabled Veterans Oasis (SDVO), a veteran-owned nonprofit organization, is seeking compassionate and qualified Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities across Maryland and the DC metro area.
DSPs work in a variety of settings, including assisted living facilities, memory care units, and in-home support environments, helping individuals live safe, meaningful, and independent lives.
Position Highlights

- All shifts available: day, evening, overnight, weekdays, and weekends

Employment Structure
- Start as a 1099 contractor (Net 30 payment terms)
- Eligible for full-time W-2 employment after a 90-day temporary assignment, based on performance and client needs
- DMV-issued driver’s license (MD/DC/VA) required for full-time status after 90 days
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (personal care, meal prep, hygiene, medication reminders)
- Provide emotional support and companionship
- Monitor and report changes in physical or mental condition
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
- Support participation in recreational, educational, and community activities
Requirements (No Exceptions)
- Clean U.S. driving record for the past 3 years
- Valid driver’s license
- No felony convictions
DSP Certification Requirements:
- First Aid / CPR
- CPI
- CMT/MET
