Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting concerns promptly to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs, assist with feeding when necessary, and maintain a clean dining environment.
- Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being.
- Maintain a safe environment by performing cleaning duties, adhering to infection control protocols, and ensuring safety hazards are addressed immediately.
- Document care activities accurately in resident records while respecting privacy and confidentiality standards such as HIPAA.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, autism support, or hospice care is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient care; ability to recognize changes in condition promptly.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and assisting residents with mobility; familiarity with equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident transfer devices is advantageous.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers effectively.
