Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional, providing compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. This part-time weekend role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve, fostering independence, social engagement, and overall well-being. You will work primarily on Saturdays and Sundays, with Sunday hours from 2 PM to 6 PM, ensuring consistent support during critical weekend hours. Your role is vital in creating a safe, nurturing environment where individuals can thrive and achieve their personal goals.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, and meal preparation
- Implement behavioral health strategies and behavior management techniques to promote positive behaviors
- Support communication efforts using skills such as American Sign Language or other augmentative communication methods
- Facilitate social interactions and community engagement activities to enhance social skills and independence
- Collect data related to progress, behaviors, and service delivery for documentation and reporting purposes
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document administration accurately
- Drive clients to appointments, outings, or community activities in compliance with safety standards
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health needs preferred
- Knowledge of special education principles and home & community care practices
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language is a plus
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide caregiving support in various settings
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for transportation duties
- Experience in data collection, social work, or medication administration is advantageous
