What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Executive - ServeGround position at Serve Freight?
About Serve Freight
Serve Freight is a third-party logistics provider based in Asheville, NC, and Cleveland, OH. We move freight for shippers across industrial, construction, and project cargo verticals. While we have a national operating footprint, we run with the speed and accountability of a founder-led company.
About Serve Ground
Serve Ground is a new division of Serve Freight built around tilt bed and rollback freight: Landolls, traveling axles, and the equipment that rides on them. Skid steers, forklifts, scissor lifts, mini excavators, and rolling machinery move between rental yards, dealers, and job sites every day. It's a niche most brokerages ignore, and we think it's wide open. This role exists to prove it.
The Role
You're the first hire in the division. You'll work directly with our founder and CEO out of the Asheville office, with our operations team and a senior logistics advisor behind you. Together, you'll build the launch roadmap: target accounts, activity metrics, milestones, and revenue gates that indicate the division is working. Then you'll execute it, one call at a time.
This is the closest thing to a startup you'll find inside an established, operating freight brokerage. You get the upside of building something from zero with a real paycheck under you while you do it.
What You'll Do
- Build the Serve Ground launch roadmap with the CEO: target list, milestones, and accountability metrics, then own the execution
- Prospect and cold-call equipment rental companies, dealers, and contractors that move wheeled and tracked equipment
- Run the full sales cycle: qualify, quote, close, and manage the accounts you win
- Learn the freight business fast: pricing and quoting in the TMS, pipeline in HubSpot (CRM), carrier sourcing with DAT and other tools
- Hit monthly milestones. When we miss one, you diagnose the blockers and adjust the plan, because it's your plan
- Document what works. As revenue proves out, we hire BDRs underneath you and you train them on the playbook you wrote
What We're Looking For
- Proven full-cycle sales experience with numbers you can back up: revenue closed, quota attainment, rankings
- Comfortable making a high volume of cold calls
- Self-directed. Some days the priorities will be set for you. Most days you'll set them yourself
- A fast, hungry learner. Freight has its own language, market cycles, and compliance rules. Expect a fire hose, and expect to study like you're back in school, except this time you're getting paid to learn
- Resilient. The first weeks will have long stretches of no. We want someone who's lived that and kept dialing
- Logistics experience is not required. We'll teach you the freight. The drive has to come with you
Compensation
- Base salary: $60,000–$70,000 (W2), depending on experience
- Uncapped commission on the gross margin you generate -- earning from your first closed load
- On-target earnings: $85,000–$95,000 in year one, with no ceiling above it
- Health insurance stipend
- On-site at our Asheville, NC HQ
Growth
The person who builds this desk runs it. As Serve Ground grows, BDRs get hired underneath you, your book compounds, and your commission ceiling moves with the division. Execute, and the leadership seat is already yours.
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
