- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents electronically or physically, ensuring proper organization within EMR/EHR systems.
- Support clinical staff by preparing reports, updating patient information, and managing office supplies to ensure a well-functioning clinical environment.
- Handle intake procedures for new patients, process referrals, and assist with medical coding including CPT codes, ICD-9/10 coding for billing purposes.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is essential; clinic experience is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as WellSky is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, health information management, and medical billing practices is necessary.
- Bilingual skills are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with familiarity with office equipment like multi-line phones and 10-key typing are important.
- Experience in inpatient care environments will be considered an asset.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards is crucial for success in this role.
