Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to foster independence and confidence.
- Support implementation of individualized care plans developed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring therapy goals are met effectively.
- Provide occupational therapy interventions for clients with autism, childhood developmental delays, neurodevelopmental disorders, and disabilities across inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health settings.
- Aid in patient transport and manual handling to ensure safe movement during therapy sessions or transfers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor patient progress, document treatment outcomes, and adjust interventions as needed.
- Maintain thorough documentation of patient care activities using medical terminology and physiology knowledge to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Contribute to creating a safe environment by adhering to occupational health protocols and practicing proper body mechanics during patient care activities.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Experience working in inpatient rehabilitation settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs.
- Knowledge of medical imaging terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practice.
- Prior experience in inpatient rehabilitation settings.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while supporting patient mobility and transport needs.
