We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Bereavement Coordinator to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have outstanding interpersonal skills and a background or strong interest in grief counseling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Bachelor’s Degree preferred (related fields: Psychology/Social Work/Sociology/Human Services)
*Three or more years of experience in a counseling or social work environment
*Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and communication skills
* Knowledge of normal grief and bereavement processes
*Highly organized individual with the ability to multitask
*Experience with hospice care preferred
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Have a valid driver’s license, maintain current auto insurance coverage, and have access to a reliable automobile. Must be willing to drive own car for work-related duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Supports the patient when requested and walks with the family through the grief process following the death.
2. Supports the grieving family through phone calls, visits, and support groups throughout the thirteen months of bereavement.
3. Offers support through books, pamphlets, and other resources available as needed.
4. Conducts Grief Support Groups and provides appropriate supportive-healing articles.
5. Works with the Social Service Coordinator
a. Ensures timely mailing of all bereavement mailings, including letters, attachments, notes, Birthday Cards, and Wedding Anniversary Cards.
b. Assigns phone calls
c. Works to gather statistical information for grants.
6. Prepares and coordinates the annual bereavement events, including but not limited to the Memorial Service and the Butterfly Release.
7. Attend visitation or funeral when possible.
8. Provide training to new hires in the Bereavement Department and follow-up training to clinical staff to encourage communication for the benefit of our patients and their families.
9. Participates in the following
a. Employee in-service, meetings, and mandatory meetings of Serenity Hospice and Home.
b. Education and competency validations throughout the year, as set forth by the Education department, completing them on time.
10. Practices, understands, and complies with all aspects of the infection control program regarding job duties.
11. Adheres to the Standards of Behavior, creating an inclusive environment for patients, family members, vendors, visitors, volunteers, community, and coworkers.
12. Embraces and emulates Serenity’s Group Agreements regarding Diversity and Inclusion to ensure all are treated equally with respect and dignity.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
