Job Description
Our Adult Day Health Care is seeking a Khmer-speaking Program Aide to support participants in a safe, respectful, and engaging environment. The Program Aide assists participants throughout the day with activities, meals, mobility, and general support while working closely with nursing staff and other team members.
This role helps ensure participants feel comfortable, safe, and included during their time at the center.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport participants who live near the center to their homes at the end of the program day when assigned.
- Assist Khmer-speaking participants with communication and understanding daily activities and instructions.
- Escort participants to and from activities, meals, and rest areas throughout the day.
- Assist participants to and from the restroom when needed and ensure they are safe and comfortable.
- Help participants take part in daily activities such as arts and crafts, games, light exercise, and group activities.
- Encourage participants to socialize and stay engaged with others.
- Assist with preparation, serving, and clean-up of meals including breakfast, snacks, and lunch.
- Provide support to participants who may need help during meal times.
- Help keep dining areas, kitchen spaces, and common areas clean and organized.
- Observe participants for any physical, behavioral, or emotional changes and report concerns to nursing staff.
- Assist with loading and unloading participants from transportation vans safely as they arrive or depart.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with staff, participants, and families.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as required.
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations as well as agency policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or nursing staff.
Requirements
- Must speak Khmer (Cambodian)
- Ability to assist participants with mobility and escorting participants throughout the center
- Comfortable assisting participants to the restroom if needed
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to work alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals
- Must demonstrate patience, compassion, and professionalism when working with elderly participants
