Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized dental insurance coordinator to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate acts as a vital bridge between the clinical team, patients, and insurance providers. This role focuses on ensuring that insurance claims are processed accurately, verifying patient benefits before appointments, and educating patients on their financial responsibilities. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology and administrative processes, as well as proficiency with Open Dental.
Duties
- Insurance Verification: Verifying patient eligibility and breakdown of benefits (deductibles, co-pays, and maximums) before scheduled appointments.
- Claims Management: Preparing, submitting, and electronically tracking insurance claims on the day services are rendered.
- Financial Counseling: Estimating patient out-of-pocket costs and explaining complex treatment plans and insurance limitations clearly to patients.
- Accounts Receivable (AR): Following up on non-paid or denied claims, posting insurance payments, and managing late patient balances.
- Fee Schedule Maintenance: Updating practice management software (Open Dental) with current insurance fee schedules and procedure codes.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Dental Receptionist, Patient Care Coordinator, Financial Coordinator is preferred.
- Familiarity with ADA billing procedures and insurance claims processing.
- Proficiency in dental terminology and documentation practices.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in administrative tasks.
- Ability to type efficiently for data entry purposes.
- Experience with electronic health record systems such as Open Dental is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
- Minimum 2-3 yr experience in a dental practice is required to apply
