We are hiring a Program Supervisor. This individual supervises program support staff for SFSC at one of two centers. Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates programs and activities which encourage the social, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual development of adults 60 and adults with disabilities at the Aquatic Park Center and/or the Downtown Center. Plans, conducts, and manages outreach program to welcome the neighboring community of adults 60 and adults with disabilities, including individuals with behavioral health needs. Collects and analyzes utilization data that meets the DAS (Disability and Aging Services) and other funder’s criteria. Programs reflect the interests and needs of the participants. Serves as a member of the inter-disciplinary team composed of management and support services. What You Will Do:
  • Interviews, hires, supervises, trains, motivates, and evaluates the performance management of the program support staff. Implements effective team concepts and quality services to recipients to fulfill the program’s expectations. Administers responsibilities of employee timekeeping and managing PTO approvals.
  • Develops short- and long-term goals and objectives in consultation with community management and consistent with Sequoia Living Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Commitment to Inclusion. Fosters an environment of employee engagement and participant satisfaction.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements programs that include but are not limited to educational, intellectual, cognitive, lifelong learning, cultural, fitness, health and well-being.
  • Assists Director in overseeing program funding, budgets, income, and expenses.
  • Manages and ensures operations, procedures, and processes are established and sustained to protect the safety and welfare of all users of the center. Responsible for maintaining communication with building management National Park Service (NPS) & Tenderloin Development Corporation (TNDC). Provides backup support to the Director when the Director is offsite. Works with special needs populations, in particular those aging with substance abuse and behavioral health disorders; modeling professional, quality interactions to fellow staff, instructors, and clients.
  • Surveys senior center participants to determine needs, interests, and abilities to participate in activities. Gather information from the participants on the talents that they may have to contribute to the senior center community. Promotes and encourages continued volunteerism within the senior center community.
  • Creates monthly and/or quarterly calendars and newsletters. Oversees the decoration of the community to recognize a full spectrum of holidays and diverse groups. Organizes and promotes invitations, flyers, and social media. Provides updates about resources and information to participants and their family members.
  • Oversees set up of physical arrangements for groups; orders supplies and equipment; develops systems of accountability to ensure that groups and individuals using the center maintain standards of cleanliness and order. Supervises the set up and breakdown of all programs and routinely observes all programming for quality control. Oversees maintenance of inventory of material, supplies, and equipment and within approved budget.
  • Works cooperatively with a diverse group of community-based partners. Serves as a liaison with these providers, facilitating effective working relationships and solid interpersonal communication.
  • Utilizes community resources to assist in conducting and funding activities. Plans activities with participants and volunteers and collaborates on resource and service delivery to participants with Community Based Organizations (CBO) and public partners.
  • Identifies barriers to full and complete provision of services needed by clients or potential clients and effectively problem-solves to resolve these issues.
  • Collates data for SFSC site, enters utilization statistics into database, provides summary reports, and analyzes outcomes to assist Senior Center Director in creating new goals and objectives for the organization. Establishes and implements ongoing evaluation of programs. Documents the findings in routine reviews.
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures including operations and technological enhancements; assesses and monitors opportunities for improvement and reviews with the SFSC Director and implements improvements.
  • Schedules and facilitates regular staff meetings.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence. Provides monthly status reports. Makes recommendations regarding current trends and projections to the Director of SFSC.
  • Performs other work as assigned.

Associate’s degree in Recreation, Recreation Therapy or a related field required. Supervision experience preferred. A minimum of three years of experience, preferably in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the populations that will be represented in these programs – culturally and linguistically diverse, functionally impaired, aging or disabled persons, and low income, including those with behavioral health and substance abuse issues. California driver license, proof of insurance, and ability to travel to multiple locations
