Position Overview

Reporting to the Sr. Purchasing Manager, The Senior Buyer Planner will support the planning and scheduling of purchase orders and work orders for their assigned responsibilities using ERP and in support of the monthly SIOP process.  The Sr. Buyer will participate in weekly meetings with external contract manufacturers as well as daily Tier meetings on the manufacturing floor. 

Responsibilities

Typical activities include:

• Plan and Schedule purchase orders for assigned external contractmanufacturers.
• Plan and Schedule workorders as needed for serial number creation for purchase orders placed with external manufacturers
• Participate In the monthlyMaster Planning process for assigned external manufacturersin support of the KSS SIOP process
• Workswithexternal manufacturers andpurchasingtoresolve material availability or scheduling challenges.  
• Using MRP to planproduction with external contract manufacturers and the ongoing management of open purchase orders and production schedules for assigned contract manufacturers / suppliers 
• Using MRP to plan and purchaseassignedraw materials, for assigned suppliers,in accordance withMRP demand.  
• Improve material availability, Control purchase price variances, while improving supplier quality, and on time delivery performance 
• Supports periodic reviews of inventory safety stock levels and the updating of corresponding ERP data in support of days on hand inventory goals.  
• Lead or support negotiations on assigned supplier contracts 
• Prepare purchase requisitions, approve and issue purchase ordersin accordance withcompany policies and terms and conditions. 
• Collaborate with manufacturing to review and update raw material andfinishedgood safety stock levels tooptimizematerial availability to support production plans, whileattaininginventory days on hand (DOH) goals.  
• Ensure the accuracy of ERP Master Data and ASL for assigned purchased items  
• Supports the Sr. Purchasing Manager on PPV reporting and improvement projects
• Monitor key market conditions that will influence the availability and cost of key purchases to ensure proactive steps are taken to respond to any adverse movements 
• Work closely withSr. Purchasing Manager in the implementation of quarterly Supplier Business Reviews for assigned external manufacturers and suppliers.  
• Support research and engineering teams toidentify,qualifyand implement lower cost supplies from existing sources as well as new sources of supply. 
• Maintain performance to monthly purchasing key performance indicators (KPI) 

Work Experience, Education and Skills required: 

• A 4-year bachelor’s degree is preferred, or 6-10 years of experience ina planning/purchasingsupply chain function. 
• Excellent understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP). 
• Competency in Microsoft Office business suite software: word, excel, outlook, and ability to learn new business applications, and use of database management systems. 
• Strong business acumen and technical knowledge withinareaof responsibility. 
• Proven leadership skills including team building and conflict resolution and management. 
• APICS certificationa plusor equivalent. 

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to ascend and descend ladders,stairs,and in proximity to loud equipment.
• Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to see and respond toat-risksituations.
• Must be able to wear personal protective gearwhen in industrial locations.
• Must be ablesitfor longer periods of time as well as move about throughout the office andproduction, /laboratoryenvironment.
