Job Title: Environmental, Health, and Safety

Job Classification: Specialist

Reports toEnvironmental, Health, and Safety Supervisor/Human Resources Manager

Org Unit: Human Resources

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintaining EHS programs and documentation
  • Support implementation of:
    • ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS)
    • ISO 45001 Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Help organize documents, records, and files for audits and inspections
  • Assist with internal audits and follow-up activities
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with:
    • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
    • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
    • Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM)
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and report hazards to supervision
  • Assist in identifying unsafe conditions and following up on corrective actions
  • Support basic Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and risk assessments
  • Assist with proper labeling, storage, and inspection of hazardous waste
  • Help maintain hazardous material and waste inventories
  • Support Hazard Communication (“Right-to-Know”) activities
  • Assist during spill response or emergency situations as directed
  • Assist with EHS training programs (PPE, safety procedures, etc.)
  • Help coordinate new hire safety orientation
  • Support safety awareness activities and employee engagement initiatives
  • Track basic EHS data such as inspections, incidents, and training records
  • Assist with tracking environmental metrics (waste, energy, emissions)
  • Help maintain accurate records for compliance and reporting purposes
  • Assist in maintaining emergency response plans and procedures
  • Support emergency drills and preparedness activities
  • Perform routine checks of fire extinguishers and emergency equipment
  • Provide administrative support for EHS programs and documentation
  • Assist Human Resources with:
    • Recordkeeping and HRIS updates
    • Safety-related documentation
    • Policy communication
  • Support general EHS-related tasks as assigned
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of workplace safety and environmental concepts
  • Willingness to learn OSHA, EPA, ADEM, and RCRA requirements
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)


 

Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred (EHS or related field)
  • 0–2 years of experience in EHS, manufacturing, or related field
  • OSHA 10-Hour (or willingness to obtain)
