Role Description
We are hiring a Senior Electrical Test Engineer for a permanent, full-time, on-site position. In this role, you will work at substations/power plants across Georgia, performing protective relay setting and testing, troubleshooting, and AC/DC circuit verification. This position involves statewide travel to provide essential electrical testing services.
Beyond field testing, this role also acts as a project and client point of contact. You will help plan and manage test jobs from scheduling through completion, and act as the day-to-day liaison with existing clients - understanding their upcoming needs, booking in work, and helping grow the volume of work we do for them.
Responsibilities - Technical
- Interpret one-lines, three lines, DC schematics and wiring diagrams
- Test and maintain relaying (electro-mechanical and micro-processor) and power line carrier (RFL, PowerComm, Pulsar, Trench)
- Troubleshoot and repair substation relaying and control equipment
- Write test plans, procedures and switching orders
- Plan and run test jobs safely and on schedule, without service interruptions
Responsibilities – Project & Client Management
- Act as a key client-facing contact for assigned accounts, building and maintaining strong working relationships with client engineers and site contacts
- Act as day-to-day client contact - booking, scheduling and growing repeat work with existing accounts
- Manage assigned jobs from planning through completion, coordinating with field crews and management
- Keep clients and management updated on project status, findings and scheduling
Work Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of field experience in substation commissioning
- Experience liaising directly with clients and/or managing jobs or projects is highly valued
Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering bachelor's or associate's degree plus ten years of substation and/or power plant commissioning experience
Requirements
- Familiar with relay test sets (Doble, Omicron) and carrier test set (PLC PowerComm)
- Results-oriented and self-motivated; capable of working with minimum supervision
- Understands and follows applicable clearance procedures and safety practices
- Self-motivated
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, organizational and time management skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients
- Willing and able to travel to substations and power plants across Georgia, including out-of-town work as needed
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record
