Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department | Level I Trauma Center
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full-time Registered Nurses for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital – Norfolk, VA
Position Status: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Shift: Weekend only Day shift positions available (Fri/Sat/Sun 7p-7a or Sat/Sun/Mon until 11p)
Holiday Rotation: Required

As part of a Level I Trauma Center, you will work alongside experienced emergency medicine providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care when patients need it most. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment.
Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award, honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.
Education Requirements
Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required
BSN or MSN preferred
Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered
Certification/Licensure Requirements
Registered Nurse license required
Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred
Experience Requirements
Prior RN experience preferred
Emergency Department experience preferred
Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
