Overview:
Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital is hiring an Echocardiographer for the Cardiac service line non-invasive lab. This is a full time, day shift position in South Boston, Va.
Hours: Monday – Friday, day shift, 830a to 5p. No nights, no weekends.
The Echocardiographer is responsible for performing and analyzing advanced echocardiographic procedures, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography, to assess cardiac function and pathology. They collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to provide accurate diagnostic information, mentor junior staff, and ensure the highest standards of patient care. The role requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards while adhering to safety protocols and ethical guidelines. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for training staff, managing schedules, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
The Non Invasive Lab at SHRH services both inpatient and outpatient services. Each Echocardiographer can see 7 to 8 patients per day from outpatient services and additional inpatient of 2 to 4 on average. This role will include Reflex studies and TEE.

Education
- High School Diploma required with experience and certification required, Associate Degree preferred
- Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program (or equivalent education) in accordance with IAC Guidelines.
- Candidates must have at least one of the four certifications (RDCS, RCCS, RCS, or ACS)
- BLS required
- 1 years of experience preferred
- adult 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echo, myocardial strain, contrast (DEFINITY), agitated saline (bubble study), exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo required
- Communication with patients and providers required
- provide accurate diagnostic information required
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards required
