Human Resource Generalist
We are searching for an experienced Human Resource Generalist at our Salt Lake City, UT facility.
Summary: The HR Generalist supports the full spectrum of HR operations at Subzero Engineering. This position plays a key role in employee relations, recruitment, compliance, onboarding, training, compensation support, and overall HR program coordination. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, solutions-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role works under the direction of the HR Manager and collaborates closely with leadership to support business objectives and workforce initiatives.

- Administer and support policies, programs, and procedures across all functional areas of HR, including employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, payroll, benefits and HRIS maintenance.
- Partner with managers and supervisors on recruiting efforts for hourly positions. Screen candidates, coordinate interviews, extend offers, and conduct reference checks.
- Conduct and coordinate new hire orientation to ensure understanding of company policies, safety practices, and culture.
- Maintain personnel files, HR records, training logs, timekeeping corrections, and benefit documentation in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support employee lifecycle events such as promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, and terminations in partnership with corporate HR and payroll.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding policies, benefits, performance management, and workplace concerns; escalate matters when appropriate.
- Track and maintain headcount and workforce data for full-time and temporary employees.
- Collaborate with temporary staffing agencies to meet hiring needs, resolve invoicing issues, and manage agency worker performance.
- Assist in employee relations matters by supporting investigations, drafting documentation, and coaching supervisors through corrective actions.
- Monitor and support consistent application of the attendance policy; work closely with supervisors to address attendance issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Partner with leadership to support the achievement of plant KPIs through effective workforce management, employee engagement, and retention strategies.
- Administer performance management processes and assist with training initiatives, safety communications, and employee engagement activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommend best practices.
- Prepare and distribute HR-related reports as needed for audits, leadership, or planning.
- Coordinate company events, recognition programs, and other plant-wide initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required). Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field (preferred) or a broad theoretical/experiential knowledge equivalent to a four-year college or university education, and at least three (3) years’ experience in a Human Resources role.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with HRIS/payroll systems preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Must be able to work onsite daily
- Bilingual English/Spanish highly desired
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Regular use of a computer and standard office equipment is required
- Frequently required to sit, talk, or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 10 pounds
- Work is performed onsite in an office environment within a manufacturing facility
