Overview

We’re looking for a people-first Business Development Associate to lead local business development and marketing efforts—helping connect families with trusted, compassionate in-home care. In this role, you’ll serve as the first point of contact for new client inquiries, representing Seniors Helping Seniors East Bay with professionalism, warmth, and authenticity. You’ll help grow our client base, nurture referral partnerships, and strengthen our presence throughout the East Bay community.
Seniors Helping Seniors East Bay is a locally owned, family-run home care agency that provides personalized, non-medical support to older adults who could use a helping hand. Our caregivers and clients often share similar life experiences, forming genuine friendships that make care feel natural, dignified, and truly personal—like getting help from a friend.

Key Responsibilities

Client Lead Management & Sales

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new inquiries, managing each lead from initial contact through intake scheduling.
  • Conduct discovery calls to understand care needs and determine whether the prospective client is a good fit for our care model and services.
  • Present SHS East Bay’s offerings clearly and compassionately, helping families understand how our approach differs from traditional home care.
  • Build rapport quickly and maintain warm, consistent communication to guide families through the decision-making process.
  • Maintain detailed lead notes, communication history, and follow-up actions within the CRM.
  • Collaborate closely with the Intake Associate to coordinate scheduling and ensure a seamless client experience.

Referral Source Development & Management

  • Identify, research, and categorize potential referral sources—including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, senior centers, social workers, and other community organizations—by level of priority and partnership potential.
  • Build and cultivate strong, lasting relationships with referral partners through regular outreach, visits, and personalized communication.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive referral source database with contact details, engagement activity, and notes.
  • Conduct ongoing relationship management and check-ins to ensure SHS East Bay remains top-of-mind for trusted partners.
  • Develop outreach plans, co-branded opportunities, and presentations that strengthen community awareness and local referral networks.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align communication strategies and maintain consistent, professional representation in the community.

Community Events & Marketing

  • Plan, organize, and manage an annual marketing and event calendar, including both SHS-hosted events and external community events.
  • Source, plan, and attend community and business events throughout the East Bay that align with brand visibility and partnership goals.
  • Represent SHS East Bay professionally and enthusiastically—engaging attendees, collecting contacts, and identifying follow-up opportunities.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to attend weekday events and required weekend events (up to two per month).
  • Coordinate event logistics such as booth setup, signage, materials, and post-event follow-up.
  • Support local marketing campaigns through flyer distribution, partnership promotions, and other outreach initiatives.

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Collect, track, and analyze data related to lead activity, referral engagement, and marketing efforts to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates summarizing outreach results, event participation, and business development outcomes.
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine strategies based on data trends and business objectives.
  • Communicate proactively with the internal team to ensure smooth lead handoffs and a consistent client experience.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to share progress, feedback, and new ideas for outreach and growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of sales and marketing experience, with experience in senior care or healthcare required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills—outgoing and comfortable engaging with people, building relationships, and initiating conversations with clients and professionals.
  • Proficient and experienced with technology, including CRM systems, Excel, Google Workspace, and phone systems.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Professional Skills & Traits

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and accountability.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of managing independent field work.
  • Comfortable working in a flexible, hybrid schedule (20 hours per week) that includes office, remote, and community-based activities.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening and required weekend events (up to two weekends per month).
  • Willing to drive and attend events in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Martinez, Oakland, and Berkeley.

Compensation & Growth

  • Hourly, part-time position with flexible scheduling (approximately 20 hours per week).
  • Bonus opportunities based on client conversion performance.
  • Temp-to-permanent pathway: opportunity to transition into a long-term role based on performance.
