Community Outreach Coordinator
Full-Time | 40 hours/week
About the Role
Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Community Outreach Coordinator to help connect older adults with the programs and resources they need to live with dignity, independence, and connection.
This is a highly visible, community-facing role ideal for someone who is creative, proactive, and energized by working directly with people. If you enjoy building partnerships, speaking in front of groups, and bringing ideas to life through outreach and social media—this role is for you.
Reporting To
Director of Development & Community Outreach
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Occasional evenings and weekends required for events and community engagement
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Lead outreach efforts to older adults (60 ) across Alexandria, with a focus on underserved and multilingual communities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with City agencies, nonprofit partners, and community organizations
- Collaborate closely with SSA’s Spanish- and Amharic-speaking Outreach Coordinators to ensure culturally responsive engagement
Program Coordination & Communications
- Develop outreach materials and manage communication with clients, partners, and stakeholders
- Produce and distribute a monthly newsletter to 600 volunteers
- Track outreach activities, partnerships, and program outcomes
Senior Ambassador Program
- Expand and manage SSA’s Senior Ambassador program
- Recruit, train, and engage Ambassadors through regular communication, virtual meetings, and quarterly trainings
- Strengthen community-based information sharing networks
Volunteer Engagement
- Oversee the Senior Information Corner program across 40 community sites
- Coordinate volunteers and ensure timely distribution of materials
Social Media & Marketing
- Manage SSA’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Create engaging content that highlights programs, volunteers, Newsletter and community impact
- Support website updates and promotional materials for events, including the Speaker Series, Oktoberfest, Gala and fundraising activities.
Fundraising & Events
- Support fundraising campaigns and special events in collaboration with the development team
- Represent SSA at community events and outreach opportunities
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging diverse audiences
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Creative thinker with experience in outreach, marketing, or community engagement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Canva, and database systems
- Experience with social media content creation and management
- Bilingual (Spanish or Amharic) strongly preferred
- Reliable transportation required for community-based outreach
