What are the responsibilities and job description for the Female Caregiver Needed - Advanced Personal Care (Bedbound Client) position at Senior Helpers - San Jose?
We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate female caregiver to provide specialized care for a bedbound client with complex medical and personal care needs. This role requires someone who is skilled, attentive, and exceptionally gentle, while still being efficient in delivering care.
Schedule: Preferred hours are 7 days a week, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
Location: San Jose, CA 95120
Client Condition & Care Needs:
- Client has limited mobility and bedbound. Client can roll and move in bed but not much else.
- Severe incontinence; uses a PureWick catheter system
- Extremely fragile skin prone to tearing and bruising due to medications
- Recovering from a failed right leg surgery with a steel rod from thigh to below the knee (leg cannot be bent)
- Left knee has arthritis and is not bent due to pain
- Currently receiving support from a nurse (wound/pressure sore care) and physical therapy (in-bed exercises)
Responsibilities:
- Perform frequent diaper changes with precision, cleanliness, and care
- Assist with PureWick catheter management
- Provide meticulous skin care, ensuring prevention of further breakdown, irritation, or injury
- Reposition client safely and gently, adhering to mobility limitations
- Assist with hygiene, comfort care, and maintaining dignity at all times
- Observe and report any changes in skin condition or overall health
- Work collaboratively with visiting nurse and PT when needed
Ideal Candidate:
- Female caregiver (client preference)
- Strong experience with bedbound clients, incontinence care, and catheter use (PureWick preferred)
- Knowledgeable in skin integrity and pressure sore prevention
- Has a very gentle touch but can work efficiently and confidently
- Patient, detail-oriented, and highly reliable
- Comfortable following care plans and adapting to client-specific limitations
