Adult Day Services Nutrition Coordinator
People Helping People has been the foundation of Senior Friendship Centers for over 50 years, and we’re growing! We are looking for a dynamic Adult Day Services Nutrition Coordinator to join our team. This is an incredibly rewarding 25 hours/week part-time position. The Adult Day Services Nutrition Coordinator supports the daily operation of the Adult Day Services Nutrition Dining Site, while maintaining a safe and engaging environment for its guests dealing with dementia or other frailties of aging.
Our Adult Day Care Centers located in Sarasota and Venice offer a safe and welcoming place where our guests get to spend the day enjoying music, engaging activities, and socialization. The Adult Day Services Nutrition Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring our guests receive exceptional customer service with a smile while serving a warm and nutritious meal.

Essential Functions:
Operational:
- Manage the daily operations of Adult Day Services’ Nutrition Dining Site.
- Assist with the daily functions and activities of the Adult Day Services (ADS) Program as needed.
- Actively participate in ADS Program activities as requested.
- Engage participants with conversation, support, a nutritious meal, and ADS Program Activities.
- Receive food as delivered to the site, check temperatures, and arrange for substitute service when necessary.
- Responsible for the set-up, clean up, and sanitation of the kitchen and dining area.
- Contribute to creating and maintaining a clean, orderly, bright, and welcoming environment.
- Record daily temperatures of the refrigerator and freezer.
- Ensure program functions remain compliant with Area Agency on Aging, Department of Elder Affairs, and county regulations and policies.
- Assist with administrative records and tasks for the Nutrition and ADS Programs.
- Communicate in a positive, courteous, and professional manner with clients and their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community at large.
- Communicate and document participant-specific observations, interests, and needs.
- Report any incident of abuse or neglect as mandated by state guidelines.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations and OSHA laws and safety guidelines.
Organizational:
- Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required.
- Participate in fundraising and outreach activities to promote the organization’s mission.
- Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
- Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization’s safety and incident policies.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, ability, and skills to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Experience working with elders with cognitive and physical impairments.
- Experience presenting social, recreational, and educational programs to adults is desirable.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
- Must have experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other computer software, or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s systems.
- Basic computer skills are required for administrative tasks.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting, walking, and standing.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
- Must be able to navigate various departments of a physical location.
- Must be able to assist potentially frail seniors in wheelchairs or using assistive devices.
Work Environment:

- Work environment may vary between locations and include stairs and a moderate noise level.
- ADS staff may also assist clients outside the building on company property.

Travel:
- Occasional travel to other ADS program locations to assist with program duties and training may be requested.
- Travel within the several counties in which Senior Friendship Centers Inc. operates may be required as frequently as needed to support operations, fundraising, and outreach.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required for all work-related travel.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based level II background screening, tuberculosis screen, and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
