Position Overview:
As a part-time Activity Aide during the day shift at Senescent Healthcare, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by facilitating engaging activities and social interactions. You will work closely with residents to encourage participation and help create a positive, lively atmosphere in our community.
Essential Duties:
- Assist in planning and implementing recreational and social programs that meet the varied needs and interests of residents.
- Encourage residents to participate in activities and interact with peers, promoting a sense of community.
- Transport residents to and from scheduled activities, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Document and maintain activity participation records, ensuring that all necessary reports are accurately completed.
- Meet regularly with the Activity Coordinator to update on resident progress and suggest new activities based on feedback.
- Assist with meal service and ensure residents are engaged during communal dining experiences.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, ensuring all equipment and supplies used in activities are stored properly.
- Provide support to new staff and help train them in activity delivery.
- Other duties as assigned by the Activity Coordinator or management.
Qualifications:
To successfully fulfill the role of Activity Aide, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in activity planning or working with elderly populations is preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to relate well to residents and team members.
- Basic computer skills are necessary for maintaining records.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and respond quickly to changing circumstances.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to engage in physical activity such as lifting up to 25 pounds, standing for extended periods, and moving between activity locations.
Work Environment:
The position may require working in a moderately noisy environment typical of healthcare settings. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed to support activity programming.
