We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical HRIS & Payroll Analyst to support and enhance HR systems and payroll operations for one of our top clients in RVA! In this role, you will own the integrity of HRIS and payroll data, lead system enhancements, and deliver actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. You will collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and business leaders to ensure seamless payroll operations and optimize system performance. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy across HRIS and payroll systems to support reliable reporting and analytics
- Lead and support HRIS system updates, configuration changes, testing (UAT), and enhancements
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery
- Review and approve payroll calculations, adjustments, and audits in alignment with company policies and regulations
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws
- Lead year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation, reporting, and audit support
- Analyze complex data sets and translate findings into clear, actionable business insights
- Partner with HR, Finance, and leadership to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Support cross-functional initiatives and provide backup support across HR operations as needed
- Mentor and support team members, ensuring consistent application of HRIS and payroll best practices
Required Skills/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
- Proven experience in HRIS systems and payroll administration
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, compliance, and auditing practices
- Experience with HR data reporting and analytics
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex data clearly
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) or similar HRIS platforms
- Experience with IBM Cognos, Power BI, or other reporting tools
- Working knowledge of SQL, SQR, or other data query languages
- Experience supporting system implementations or upgrades
