This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation projects while collaborating with cross-functional engineering and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate electrical subcontractors to ensure alignment with engineering drawings and commissioning schedules
- Perform I/O checkout, cabling verification, and device testing to validate system functionality
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues, including PLC integration and industrial networking
- Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for automated conveyor and sorter systems
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and project specifications
- Document test results, deviations, and commissioning progress for project turnover
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and customer stakeholders to communicate updates and resolve issues
- Support training and knowledge transfer for subcontractors and on-site teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in commissioning processes
- Hands-on experience with industrial automation, controls systems, and PLC troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge of I/O systems, cabling, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.)
- Experience commissioning material handling systems (conveyors, sorters, distribution systems)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate on-site project activities
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in team environments
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80–100%) and work extended hours during commissioning phases
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Travel required to major project sites across the U.S., including:
- Kansas City
- Dallas, TX
- San Jose, CA (multiple sites)
- Madison, WI
- Denver, CO
- Per diem, hotel, and travel expenses fully covered
