ABOUT THE ROLE
The Assistant Director of Education plays a key leadership role in guiding the academic school program, maintaining high standards for student achievement, and creating a strong framework for staff to support students in meeting their educational goals. The Assistant Director of Education supports the Program Director in overseeing daily program operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and responsive services. This role may include direct responsibility for specific program initiatives, teams, or service areas. The Assistant Director of Education provides staff with leadership, coaching, and professional development; offers hands-on support in working with students and families; and collaborates with external partners to strengthen outcomes and ensure comprehensive, student-centered care.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage daily school operations and drive educational excellence
- Lead instructional improvement efforts, promoting high expectations and accountability for student achievement
- Supervise and support teaching staff through regular classroom observations, coaching, and Professional Learning Communities
- Oversee teacher personnel functions, including hiring, performance management, and professional development
- Guide classroom teams in addressing both the academic and therapeutic needs of students
- Ensure the timely and high-quality completion of all teacher documentation, including IEPs and progress reports
- Monitor and support implementation of Common Core-aligned curriculum, identifying needs and updating materials as necessary
- Lead school-wide initiatives including Data Driven Instruction and blended learning integration
- Coordinate and plan school events, academic calendars, and special programs such as field trips and summer sessions
- Identify students with the highest academic needs and oversee implementation of targeted interventions
- Support compliance with special education laws, certification standards, and quality reviews
- Partner with the Program Director on student intake, referrals, transitions, and mainstreaming/discharge planning
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education or related field
- Administrative or Special Education Credential
- Experience in or administrative involvement in programs serving students with emotional disturbances is desirable
- Experience with educational coaching, curriculum design and implementation
- Knowledge of and experience with the use of therapeutic intervention is desirable
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement programs
- Demonstrated ability to write professional reports
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and insurability through Seneca’s automobile policy
- TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
SCHEDULE
- School based schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM - 4:30 PM (ability to work occasional flexible schedule when school needs vary)
- 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days

- Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
