DESCRIPTION:
The Plumber performs skilled trades work at the journeyman level maintaining and repairing plumbing and related equipment.
Essential Functions
- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on plumbing and irrigation systems.
- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on boilers and pumps that circulate water systems and piping.
- Researches, orders, and receives parts from vendors, taking into consideration availability, cost, product value, warranty periods, and ease of installation.
- Performs troubleshooting and repairs to irrigation systems.
- Assists other trades with plumbing issues/problems.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Four years of experience in the plumbing trade at the journeyman level.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with the ability to obtain a Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment, with acceptable driving record.
- Florida State Journeyman Plumbing License.
- Knowledge of and ability to effectively use plumbing materials, power and manual tools, and other equipment customarily used in the trade.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills regarding complex plumbing maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
- Committed to working in in a multicultural environment.
- Works inside and outside environment, at College campuses and College-owned buildings, with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Will be exposed to fumes, solvents, and combustible materials.
- Will be required to wear protective gear.
- Will be required to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to stand and walk for considerable periods of time.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
- Ability to climb and use ladders extensively.
- Required to drive College vehicles.

- Final hire/appointment of a candidate offered employment in this position is contingent upon the candidate's successful completion of a job-related physical ability assessment.
- Current employees may be referred for a job-related physical ability assessment or reassessment upon their supervisor’s recommendation and subsequent approval by the Office of Human Resources, or upon the recommendation of the Office of Human Resources.
