Responsibilities

The Case Manager, TRIO–Student Support Services (SSS) grant provides individualized academic, personal, and career support to program participants to promote persistence, good academic standing, graduation, and successful transfer. Advises and monitors student progress, supports academic skill development, and connects participants with tutoring, campus services, and community resources. This position assists students with course selection, degree planning, career exploration, and preparation for graduate and professional programs. Supports financial and economic literacy education, contributes to recruitment and retention efforts, and assists with program evaluation to ensure alignment with federal grant requirements and institutional priorities.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains active caseload and advises TRIO-SSS participants (low income, first generation, and students with a disability) with success coaching and skill development.
  • Assists students with developing, reviewing, and maintaining Individual Academic Plans (IAPs) and career plans, including course selection, degree pathway decisions, and transfer planning.
  • Coordinates and provides tutoring and academic support services, connecting students with appropriate learning resources to strengthen academic performance.
  • Delivers financial and economic literacy education, including guidance on FAFSA completion, financial aid processes, scholarships, budgeting, responsible borrowing, and access to wraparound resources.
  • Monitors academic performance and progress, intervening early when students face challenges such as risk of stop-out, academic probation, suspension, or attrition.
  • Provides career development support, including career exploration, job readiness skills, and assistance with planning and preparing for graduation or transfer to an institution of higher education.
  • Assists in planning and facilitating workshops, mentoring activities, orientations, and programs that support academic success, financial literacy, career readiness, and grant objectives.
  • Collaborates with grant leadership to identify, select, and retain eligible program participants, ensuring compliance with all federal eligibility and documentation requirements.
  • Supports the recruitment, marketing, and promotion of the program to increase awareness among eligible students.
  • Maintains documentation of student contacts, services, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with federal reporting guidelines and institutional procedures.
  • Participates in regular meetings with the Project Advisory Committee, providing updates on participant progress, services, and program needs.
  • Maintains inventory of all items purchased with grant funds, ensuring proper tracking and accountability.
  • Coordinates the dissemination of project data and reports with advisory groups and relevant college committees.
  • Attends required grant training, conferences, and professional development activities to remain current with federal regulations and best practices.
  • Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
  • Two years of professional experience in student advising or counseling in higher educational institution.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
  • One year of experience working with a federal education grant.
  • Spanish bi-lingual.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of student development, advising, and retention strategies for student populations.
  • Ability to provide proactive, holistic academic and career guidance.
  • Skill in developing individualized academic and career plans.
  • Ability to monitor and interpret student data, identify risk factors, and intervene appropriately.
  • Knowledge of financial aid processes and resources that reduce reliance on student loans.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, and customer service skills (giving and receiving feedback, active listening, conflict resolution, negotiation, group facilitation, coaching, and influencing).
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed financial and programmatic records using National Clearinghouse and Student Access.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and the ability to become proficient with videoconferencing applications, including Teams/Zoom.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity.
  • Ability to create new and innovative solutions.
  • Committed to working in a multicultural environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT And SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Works in an office environment.
  • May be required to work flexible hours and days.
  • May travel between campuses and local organizations.

The College anticipates that the position incumbent must be available throughout the workday and, on some occasions, after regular work hours. Therefore, as a condition of employment, the incumbent is expected to be available by cell phone and is required to provide their current cell phone number to the Office of Human Resources and to their immediate supervisor.

This position is not eligible for Veterans’ Preference.

The is a grant funded position. The anticipated end date of this grant is September 2030 and the duration of the position is baded on the continued funding availability of the grant.

Conditions of Employment

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Floridaat the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children. The College will conduct various types of background checks which may include, but are not limited to: criminal background, credit check, driver's license check, previous employment and references.
