JOB SUMMARY:

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for unifying all voter-facing communications—traditional, digital, and community-based—into one coordinated effort. This role ensures every message from the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections is accurate, transparent, accessible, and aligned with the office’s brand. By combining media, digital platforms, and outreach initiatives, the Coordinator helps voters understand how, when, and where to participate in democracy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

INTEGRATED COMMUNICATIONS

  • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, newsletters, voter educational materials, and official notices.
  • Maintain the office website, ensuring timely updates, accuracy, ADA compliance, and brand consistency.
  • Monitors elected officials and related offices/agencies for information related to elections, appointments, resignations, etc. to report the most up to date information.
  • Manage social media accounts with posts that highlight election deadlines, events, and voter education initiatives in coordination with outreach team.
  • Design and publish graphics, digital guides, and e-newsletters to make voting easier to understand.
  • Track analytics across media, digital, and outreach channels to measure impact, reports findings on a regular basis and provide suggestions for optimization.

BRAND STEWARDSHIP

  • Ensure all communications—print, digital, and in-person—reflect the office’s visual identity, tone, and brand standards.
  • Maintain templates, style guides, and consistent use of logos, colors, and messaging.
  • Uphold the office’s nonpartisan commitment and values of transparency, accessibility, and trust.

OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Develop and assist in the distribution of voter education materials for schools, civic organizations, and community partners.
  • Support voter registration drives, community presentations, and educational workshops.
  • Promote outreach activities through both traditional and digital communications.
  • Collect community and voter feedback to strengthen engagement strategies.

MEDIA SUPPORT

  • Assist the Supervisor and leadership team with media preparation, talking points, and event materials.
  • Monitor local media coverage and flag relevant election-related stories.
  • Organize background materials and data to support press briefings (this position does not serve as the primary spokesperson).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Familiarity with branding and design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe, or similar).
  • Graphic design or multimedia production experience is preferred.
  • Dedication to nonpartisan public service and building community trust.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–3 years of communications, public information, or outreach experience.
  • Experience managing websites, social media platforms, and email communications.

  • Office-based role with occasional extended hours during election cycles.

MANDATORY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Able and available to work extended days and weekends as needed, with little or no advance notice, and perform related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the office.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
