What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Book Keeper position at Selling Dreams,?
About Us
D-Group of Companies is a diversified organization operating multiple business entities, including commercial construction, commercial real estate rentals, property investment, and related ventures. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and autonomous Full-Charge Bookkeeper to oversee daily financial operations, maintain accurate records across our entities, and provide ownership with clear financial visibility.
Our outside CPA handles annual corporate tax filings. The successful candidate will take total ownership of ongoing daily bookkeeping, payroll, reconciliations, job costing, and internal financial reporting.
Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives working independently. You will not just be entering transactions; you will own the entire bookkeeping cycle across multiple entities, proactively identifying discrepancies and ensuring our project financials stay perfectly aligned.
Key Responsibilities
· Multi-Entity Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate, complete, and current general ledgers for every assigned construction and entity owned under the D Group of companies umbrella.
· Month-End Close: Complete monthly reconciliations (bank accounts, credit cards, inter-company loans) and close the books consistently on an established schedule.
· Project Job Costing: Deliver timely monthly construction project P&L statements, ensuring all field expenses, labor, and materials are accurately allocated to specific jobs.
· Financial Reporting: Prepare and package accurate quarterly financial statements for each entity to be reviewed by ownership and our outside CPA.
· Daily Operations: Process payroll and reliably manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivables (AR) to ensure vendor and employee satisfaction.
· Proactive Oversight: Analyze records to catch and resolve accounting discrepancies or financial concerns before they impact operations.
· Tax Readiness: Keep meticulously organized files and support documentation, ensuring a clean year-end transition to our outside CPA for tax preparation.
Qualifications & Skills
· Experience: 3 years of bookkeeping experience, with a heavy preference for individuals who have worked directly in commercial construction or commercial real estate management.
· Multi-Entity Fluency: Proven ability to manage records for multiple corporate entities simultaneously without mixing accounts or details.
· Software Proficiency: Strong experience with construction-capable accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop/Online, Sage, or similar platforms) and intermediate Excel skills.
· Autonomy: A self-starter who takes complete ownership of deadlines, follows through on assignments, and can work efficiently without constant reminders or oversight.
· Analytical Mindset: Ability to look beyond data entry to spot trends, anomalies, or cash flow challenges.
