**Job Title:** Mechanical Designer
Overview
Selectek is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Solidworks and be proficient in creating detailed drawings, layouts, and sketches for high-voltage switch products.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare shop drawings and bills of material related to functionality and assembly of components of high voltage switch products
- Create detail drawings / layouts and sketches of parts and equipment used by Transmission Switch Product Division for engineering and fabrication purposes
- Prepare Bills of Material for assemblies and sub-assemblies
- Make electrical, mechanical and structural calculations associated with drawing preparation
- Initiate changes as assigned by Senior Designer or Application Engineer in existing drawings after investigating technical effects of such changes
- Perform other duties as needed, including erecting switch products for testing purposes and processing orders and drawings associated with Engineering Services
Requirements
To be successful in this role, the candidate must have:
- 2 years of mechanical design experience creating drawings using Solidworks
- Proficiency in Solidworks and AutoCAD
- A strong understanding of mechanical principles
About the Role
The focus of this role will be on creating shop drawings for switch applications. The successful candidate will make changes to existing core drawings to ensure that the products meet client needs by customizing the equipment. They will also ensure that the drawings are clean and assist with the creation of the bill of materials.
This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position with opportunities for overtime. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8AM - 5PM, with the option to work from home/remote. Business casual attire is expected.
