What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Lead - 2nd/Weekend Shift position at Select Technical Staffing?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The working shift lead – CNC machinist will coordinate priorities between shifts to productively operate various cells and machines. Taking direction from the Production Manager, lead and instruct shift workers on assignments, providing setups, changeovers, training, quality, and troubleshooting issues. Production on multiple CNC Machines producing a variety of high precision, high quality workpieces (currently for the firearms industry) will round out the responsibilities during the shift.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Leads and instructs shift workers on assignments, providing setups, changeovers, training, and troubleshooting issues with ultimate responsibility for all work performed on the shift, maintaining less than 25% indirect time.
Utilizing documentation, selects appropriate tooling, gauges, and supplies to prepare cells for production
Performs machine setup and tool change, selecting appropriate tooling based on materials
Operates equipment efficiently, monitoring machine performance and work piece quality to ensure specifications and production rates are being met.
Performs precision quality checks as specified per work piece to ensure proper tolerances are held
Communicates with others in the department and across shifts to ensure the smooth flow of work
Maintains a clean working environment through machine cleaning, tool organization, chip clearing, cutting oil maintenance, etc.
Due to the staffing and resources available for off-shifts, off-shift leads also:
Utilizes judgment and decision-making capabilities when determining the correct action without the support of supervision or engineering
Prepares cell performance documentation reports/checklists
Cleans and packages work pieces for effective material handling
Operates material handling equipment as needed to deliver stock to cells or stage completed product for shipment
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
3-5 years CNC machining setup experience on CNC lathe/turning, mills, and 5-axis equipment or related combination of experience and schooling
Attention to detail and a desire to maintain high standards of workmanship
Ability to setup and troubleshoot a variety of CNC equipment and perform precision quality inspections
Mechanically inclined, good problem-solving skills, able to work independently, self-motivated and possess the ability to do highly accurate work that requires concentration and physical effort
Flexibility - willingness to operate other equipment, perform work outside job duties when asked and work overtime hours when required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regularly lifts up to 20 pounds unassisted. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds unassisted. Occasional use of overhead cranes for lifts greater than 50 pounds.
Regularly stands for entire shift (10-12 hours)
Regularly bends, stoops, reaches, climbs and moves.
The nature of the work involves contact with various metals and oils.
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
