Workday Lead Developer
Location: San Diego, CA or San Antonio, TX
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite β mandatory)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workday Lead Developer to drive the design, development, and optimization of Workday solutions across the organization. This role will lead technical initiatives, support integrations, and partner closely with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure scalable and efficient Workday functionality.
This position requires a hands-on technical leader who can balance strategic thinking with execution, mentor team members, and ensure best practices across the Workday ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of Workday solutions, including integrations, reports, and customizations
- Serve as the technical SME for Workday modules (HCM, Finance, Payroll, Integrations)
- Architect and maintain complex integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and APIs
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Ensure data integrity, system performance, and security best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, providing ongoing support and enhancements
- Mentor and guide junior developers and technical team members
- Manage releases, updates, and Workday feature adoption
- Maintain documentation for system architecture, integrations, and processes
Key Requirements
- 7 years of experience in information technology, software development, engineering, or related fields
- 5 years of experience in integration development within Workday HCM, Payroll, Benefits, and Recruiting
- Workday implementation experience preferred
- 2 years of experience in a technical lead or senior technical role
- Proven experience as a Lead or Senior Workday Developer
- Strong expertise in:
- Workday Studio
- EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder)
- Core Connectors
- Workday APIs and web services (REST/SOAP)
- Experience with Workday modules such as HCM, Financials, or Payroll
- Strong understanding of integration patterns and data transformation (XML, XSLT)
- Experience leading technical projects and mentoring team members
- Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with business and technical teams
Must-Have Requirement
- Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in either San Diego, CA or San Antonio, TX (this is non-negotiable)
