What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Investor Relations position at Selby Jennings?
We are partnered with an independent global private markets placement and advisory group who is looking to bring on a Vice President of Investor Relations in their New York City office. This firm is a leading player in the private markets ecosystem, working closely with high‑quality investment managers across established and emerging markets. They advise on a wide range of initiatives, including primary capital raises, secondary solutions, and direct transactions, spanning private equity, venture capital, credit, infrastructure, and real assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead private capital‑raising processes across multiple product lines, including private equity, credit, venture capital, and real assets.
- Oversee deliverables produced by junior team members, including status reports, activity reports, roadshow calendars, investor profiles, agendas, and marketing materials.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding fundraising activity, roadshows, and marketing materials, while providing strategic and advisory guidance throughout the process.
- Establish and maintain relationships with institutional investors across North America, conducting distribution activities, driving transactions forward, and ensuring all required actions are completed.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 6 years of finance experience in investment banking, investor relations, private equity, consulting, or private capital placement, ideally with 6 years of private markets experience.
- Strong knowledge of the alternative assets industry.
- Strong numerical aptitude with advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of corporate finance (balance sheets, P&L, capital structures, etc.).
- Ability to hit the ground running and leverage existing investor relationships or develop new ones from day one.
- Demonstrated track record of client or investor exposure and impact.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Ability to leverage pre‑existing or develop new relationships from day one.
