POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Communicator will support online media, and the internal and external communications needs of the largest private-sector union in California. Under the supervision of the Communications Director, the Specialist will coordinate with our field teams to develop content for internal and external communications
and
to
support
field
campaigns.
This
is
a
great
opportunity

communications
professional

Examples of Duties:
Create high-quality digital content, including working with members to create content, video editing, and graphic
design.
Assist in overall campaign communication strategies to meet the political, contract, and new organizing goals of the local.
Assist
the
Communications
Director
in
producing
our
monthly
digital
newsletter
for
members.
Archive
and
organize
media
for
the union
Work
with
members
to
develop
leaders
and
spokespeople
Update
USWW’s
website
and
monitor
content.
Other
duties
as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Graduation
from
an
accredited
college
or
university
in
relevant
field
or
equivalent experience in labor & community organizing that would provide for the following knowledge of, skills & abilities.
- 1-3
years
of
experience
as
a
campaign,
political,
or
media
professional. - Proven
commitment
to
social
and
economic
justice
and
improving
the
lives
of
working
people. - Excellent
interpersonal
skills
and
ability
to
work
in
a
fast-paced
and
diverse
team
environment. - Ability
to
drive
work
independently,
manage
assignments,
stay
organized,
and
meet
deadlines. - Demonstrated
ability
to
clearly
convey
information
and
ideas
both
verbally
and
in
writing
across
audiences. - Bilingual
–
English
&
Spanish
preferred - Computer
proficiency
in
including
graphic
design
and
video
editing - Proven
commitment
to
social
and
economic
justice
and
improving
the
lives
of
working
people. - Experience
working
on
campaigns
with
a
labor
union,
public
policy,
or
non-profit
organization. - Knowledge
of
union
organizing
practice
and
principles. - Excellent

to

and

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability
to
travel
to
other
work
sites
in
California,
ability
to
work
extended
and
irregular
hours,
and
work remotely - Valid
drivers’
license,
use
of
a
car
for
work,
and
specified
automobile
insurance
coverage
are
mandatory
Able to work prolonged periods of sitting and working on computer. Long and extended hours.- Bilingual
English/Spanish
(written
&
verbal)
is
highly
preferred. - All
