Sanitarian – 1st Shift

This position focuses on sanitation programs, cleanliness standards, and food safety practices to help ensure products are made in a safe and controlled environment.

Employment Type – Full-Time
Work Hours (Shift) – 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:00pm (plus 2 hours every other Saturday)
Starting Pay – $18 per hour

Required Education – High School Diploma/GED
Required Experience – Minimum 2 years in a food manufacturing or food-related environment
The Sanitarian is responsible for helping maintain sanitation, food safety, and quality programs within the facility. This role works closely with Quality Assurance and Operations to ensure cleaning activities, documentation, and corrective actions are completed accurately and consistently to meet regulatory and company standards.
Responsibilities
- Support daily sanitation operations in alignment with food safety and quality expectations.
- Maintain and update sanitation-related documentation, including cleaning procedures, schedules, and records.
- Assist with planning and completing scheduled sanitation tasks to ensure all areas and equipment are properly cleaned.
- Perform sanitation verification activities such as pre-operational inspections, environmental checks, protein swabbing, and chemical monitoring.
- Participate in facility inspections and help address sanitation-related findings through corrective actions.
- Track sanitation data and assist with reporting trends and performance metrics.
- Help train employees on proper cleaning, sanitation, and GMP practices.
- Order, organize, and maintain sanitation and cleaning supplies.
- Follow all safety, GMP, and food safety requirements while identifying and reporting potential risks to quality or safety.
- Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing or food industry environment.
- Working knowledge of sanitation practices, GMPs, and food safety programs.
- HACCP training required; certification preferred.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently bend, twist, push, pull, and carry materials.
- Ability to stand for the entire shift in a production environment.
- Comfortable working in a food manufacturing setting while following all Good Manufacturing Practices.
